House leveling up- April 2020
April was a return to project weekends as we had taken some time off to ‘relax’ in unequal trade for our cancelled vacation. We have tried to stay out of the stores as much as possible and complete projects with whatever we have on hand. But we’re starting to get to the point that to make further progress a trip to the store will be required. What we did get done is pretty rewarding though.
- Install smart switch for garage lights- I love that they are on a schedule and I don’t have to think about it
- Lots of organization to make the house live better and more efficiently
- Some decorating (hung a mirror, two shelves, some fairy lights in Miss K’s room)
- Hang the last of the window blinds
- Finished installing drywall to separate the two halves of the basement (workshop from storage)
- Have an Easter egg hunt in the new house (so many good hidey spots here)
- Installed and FINISHED in a single weekend the last of the soffit and fascia on the East side of the house which means we can now get gutters and downspouts! It really changes the look of the house and gives it a finished look.
- Fixed a leak inside the refrigerator- I generally wouldn’t recommend taking apart a mostly working fridge during a pandemic but boy are all my shelves super clean now.
- Kept everyone safe, healthy, educated, and employed while sheltering at home
Just to give you a frame of reference, this is what it had looked like since we moved in (I took this last fall):
I’m hoping to get gutters, grading and seeding prioritized for May. Jim is eyeing trim and handrails, but a few more doors need to be installed to for trim-a-palooza to begin.
