House Leveling up- March 2019
Did you read last month’s post about what we got done in the shortest month of 2019? Fairly impressive given the cold weather and short month. These posts (January had some leveling up too!) are helpful to keep track of all the things done and undone on a month-by-month basis. Keep checking back right around the beginning of each month to get the status update.
Back with our monthly feature of what we accomplished this month:
- Finish rafters, install sheathing, and tar paper on the breezeway
- Additional flashing on East wing in an attempt stop leaks
- Finished HVAC install (including bathroom fans, but minus AC which will come after the weather warms up)
- Passed mechanical inspection!
- Installed sun tunnel for natural light in the kids bathroom
- Built Miss K’s window seat to her custom specifications
- Got the porch slabs poured finally! A Christmas miracle in March.
- Begin electrical rough in
- Brought power in from the garage to the main breaker panel
- Mounted light fixture boxes, can lights, etc
- Installed very first outlet and removed the extension cord to the garage that’s been running there for months
- Left for Spring Break! A much needed vacation
- Decided we WERE NOT signing another year’s lease- the clock is ticking to get moved in before July 31
Here’s what we hope to accomplish next month:
- Electrical rough in
- Hallway soffit framing
- Frame up the screen porch
- Finish drying-in the breezeway exterior (windows and housewrap)

I wish the contractor who built our house gave such detailed progress plans. The house looks great and is coming together with finish in sight. Warm weather and timely subcontractors should speed completion.
