House leveling up- March 2020

It seems that as soon as March 1 came a switch was flipped and it was instantly Spring. No complaints here- I’m not a huge Winter season loving person. Our focus in March was to get the master bathroom complete to finish out the plumbing permit. To get there I had to use weekends and take 3 days off work to keep the progress bar moving. Here’s what we got completed:

  • Tiled, sealed, grouted and caulked the master shower
  • Had the threshold/wall caps installed around the master shower
  • Finished a cat tree from leftover lumber and carpet scraps
  • Spent a ton of time staring at these walls we built because of Coronavirus

Other projects that are coming up are more outside focused, but that’s weather dependent. We have some trim, caulking, landscaping and the front porch and screened in porch work to complete outside. Inside is handrails, a few closet doors, and miles of trim (to keep the list short).

We were unable to take our annual spring break trip due to a shelter at home order but boy howdy do we need one. It’s likely we’ll take a long weekend to try to recharge our batteries but it’s unknown if we’ll use that time on house project or just complete veg time. I’m not even sure if I should think about what April might bring- March kept us on our toes. This time last year we had just finished the HVAC (very thankful it kept us comfortable all winter), started electrical (we’ve been using the heck outta that with all 4 of us home everyday for weeks) and got the miracle of porch slabs poured. It’s a different home and world this year.

  1. The shower looks great! Seems a lot easier on HGTV than when you actually do the work yourself.
