House leveling up- May 2021
May was a long month (5 weekends!) and we continue to plug away at projects inside and outside. Finally it was warm enough to do various outside and out in the yard type activities. It’s iffy every year if we’ll be rained out or driven in by heat if we have just a few days of pleasant weather. This year was no exception with a little bit of everything weather-wise. We also finished up a full year of remote school and we’re all happy for the break. Here’s what we got done during the month of May:
- More garden work (protecting our future harvests from bunnies and squirrels) including more planting and an azalea bed for my mother’s day gift
- Basic ‘get ready for summer’ maintenance (remove AC cover, yard/grass maintenance, clean gutters, etc)
- Power washed the house (we still had mud stuck to the bricks from construction!)
- Began a custom woodworking project to build Jim a desk!
- Protect our newly planted fruit trees from the invasion of cicadas we’re supposed to get this summer (have you heard of Brood X- yeah we’re in that zone)
- Build a trampoline (early bday gift for Mr B)
Photo evidence that we’re not just making this stuff up:
June will be more focusing on Jim’s desk and other little projects that we can squeeze around it. And I have every intention of putting pool time as one of those ‘little projects’ to squeeze in wherever I can. See you next month! Also, it just hit me that we’re creeping up to our 2nd anniversary of living here in this dream- woot!
