House leveling up- October 2020
We started this month grateful that we got 5 weekends that we could dedicate to trying to complete the trim. The bank was insisting that it be finished before closing out the construction loan and we were eager to pay a lower interest rate, so extra fuel was adding to the fire to get the last of the trim installed. It really does finish things up and reduce that ‘construction chic’ look we’ve had for over a year. We had 4 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, the laundry room, and one storage closet to work on when the month started. Not to mention about 5 doors that still needed to be installed. So… did we get it done?
I would say yes (-ish)!
- Installed closet doors in: Miss K’s bedroom, Mr B’s bedroom and the downstairs linen closet (all that remains is the bathroom door for our room)
- Finished trim in all rooms except the laundry room and the insides of closets
- Began work on Miss K’s window seat
- Had our first fire of the season
- Began conversations with the bank (rates are low but closings are into mid-December)
November will bring a flurry of outside projects to wrap up as weather allows. I’m personally very eager to get cabinet handles installed, but that’s a bit further down the list and can be done when the weather is icky outside. It’s been nice to wrap up trim- we were both getting a little tired of the same type of project weekend after weekend. I looked back and we’ve been working on trim almost continuously since mid-July. We have looked at the rest of our list and started thinking about what we needed to do and in what order. I think we’ve got the next dozen things lined up but I’ll be curious if that takes us all the way through to spring especially with the holidays providing both respite and delays (different sides of the same coin).

A very productive month, we cannot wait to see all of the changes.
