House leveling up- quarterly review?
So it’s been awhile. About three months since my last post. Let’s consider this maybe a generous quarterly review (February, March, April, and most of May). What have we been up to? Well, not much if I’m being honest. We lost most of February and some of March and then took a vacation and came back more mentally prepared to tackle our to-do list. Here’s our short list of completed (or mostly completed) projects that spanned MONTHS:
- Cancelled our cruise, but ended up going to Florida for spring break
- Got one section of the basement drywall finished
- Built shelves for Jim’s desk (still more work to do before the desk can be considered finished)
- Started tiling our backsplash (this tile matches what we put around the fireplace- the last of the caulking will come this weekend)
- Started our garden (tomatoes, broccoli, lettuce, sugar snap peas and pumpkins this year)
- Deconstructed Mr B’s pirate bunk bed (custom built by J years ago)
Next up for our summer project list is to build our front porch. YES you read that right! Our design always included a front porch. J has been researching columns and putting it all together. We are also hoping to do some work on the balcony and then build a brick lamp post in the front yard. We had extra bricks from the house build and after a disappointing broad-daylight theft last year we decided we better act before we have nothing left. We’re also hiring out some landscaping/heavy machine work that will hopefully bring a touch of curb appeal along with our porch and yard light. I’m very excited and hope we can share steady progress on those projects as we go along. Until next time!

As the major house items have matured, Spring brings new energy to gardens, lawn and a front porch:) Looking forward to seeing the house soon.
