Spring Break and moving

Spring Break and moving

This will be a short post, but I wanted to come on and let you know why we’ve been so quiet. It’s been over a month- we’re so sorry to neglect you. We went on vacation last week and came home to immediately start the packing and moving tasks of getting into our rental so we can get out of this house. Then we can crush it to rubble and have it hauled away. Is anyone as excited as I am about this?

We have some amazing friends helping us move on Sunday so I anticipate we’ll go quiet again as we settle into the rental. It’s a lot of not-too-exciting-stuff to blog about. So there you go. We’re all caught up. During times like these (I anticipate there will be many when the building actually starts in earnest) you might get more ‘news’ from our Instagram account– if that’s your thing.

Jim is talking about writing a post talking about the financials. Be on the lookout for that. We might even have a resolution to our loan request by then.

  1. Hey Amy and Jim,

This is kind of unrelated to you moving, but… I am sitting at home sick (blech!), watching my neighbor have his siding removed, and I thought of you.

The siding has been taken off, and I kid you not, there is a mere strip of house wrap that runs across the back of his house. Just one. Not at the top or the bottom of his two stories, just randomly slapped in the middle of the structure. I can only guess that he had some issues because of this, thus the current repairs.

Now I get why you are acting as your own GC. Well, it’s probably one of the reasons. I’m excited to follow your build!

    1. Thanks Rachel! I have a friend who lives in your neighborhood who has reported that they also had some shoddy construction that is leading to current problems. If you own it, you care and will make it the best you possibly can, so that’s what we’re trying to do. Thanks for reading!
